Annual Don Williams Memorial Golf Classic

Each year the brother of the Epsilon Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. host The Don Williams Memorial Golf Classic with their philanthropic organization The Uplift Foundation, Inc.  The Golf Tournament was named in honor of Don Williams – A slain Memphis police officer and member of Epsilon Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in Memphis, TN. Patrolman Williams died on January 29, 1998, from wounds he suffered on December 26, 1997. While he was moonlighting as a security guard at a local comedy club a man who he had ejected returned and opened fire on him. Patrolman Williams is survived by his wife and three children.

The proceeds from this tournament supplement support of many community outreach programs. These programs include: college scholarships to deserving high school seniors, fans for elderly, little league baseball and big brothers/big sisters’ outings.  Additionally, Epsilon Phi and The Uplift Foundation is committed to sponsor and support community outreach programs designed to promote self–improvement, self-reliance, leadership development, personal responsibility, entrepreneurship and economic awareness.

This years’ tournament was held on August 20, 2011 at the Links of Pine Hill , 1005 Alice Avenue, Memphis, TN.  There were 125 golfer and several hole and tournament sponsors.
